Vivek Kundra Employs Extended IT Experience to Manage Federal IT Investing

With the advance of the Internet and the high-speed development of technology, new possibilities never before dreamed have transformed the way we live and work. Now, government too must change and adapt to these new advancements. Vivek Kundra, Federal Chief Information Officer is altering the way we as citizens touch base with our United States government utilizing Social Media, Gov 2.0 and Data.gov and setting the standard for transparency and accountability in government.

As it stands now for Vivek Kundra, he will use his previous experience as CIO in Washington, D.C. to look for ways of using technology that can enable the internal computing systems and services to run better in the U.S. government. During his short tenure in DC, he pioneered many endeavors regarding tax-saving technology. He has also made strides by switching over the software used internally throughout the Federal government for email and spreadsheets to the versions made by Google. Another well-known effort Vivek Kundra made was leading initiatives to increase the amount of publicly available government information while lessening the cost necessary to give this information to the public. Additionally, Vivek Kundra built a contest for developers to enter that would enable him to select the greatest software applications for the official Washington D.C. website.

Vivek Kundra applies his Information Technology experience to superintend Federal government funded technology investments. Before being assigned the first Federal Chief Information Officer of the United States Government back in March 2009, Vivek Kundra was CTO for Washington D.C. and Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Technology for Virginia. He is well on the track to modifying the national, and possibly worldwide, perspective of how government interacts with its citizens.
